CE525 covers...well...CE525 aircraft.

CitationJet, CJ1, CJ1+, CJ2, CJ2+, CJ3, & CJ4.

Alternately, CE525, CE525A, CE525B, and CE525C.

Where it gets complicated is when you put the (S) beside CE525 on the type...then you can fly any of those models single-pilot...but must have a 61.58 PIC check in order to legally fly with a copilot.

It is.

If you hold the CE525s (or RA390s, or whatever) then you can only legally fly single pilot. Sure you can use a copilot, but that copilot is considered a passenger in the eyes of the Administrator and cannot log SIC unless the PIC holding the SP type rating also holds a current 61.58 PIC check.

There are certain requirements to fly single-pilot in a CJ, like having an operable autopilot. If the autopilot is on MEL, a pilot who only holds the SP type cannot legally operate the airplane because they aren't legal to fly with the SIC that would be required.

It sure is - 2000+ existing airframes and four models (1+/2+/3/4) still in production.

Having the CE525s type is better than the straight CE525, though...it gives you the option of flying single-pilot or crewed where the straight CE525 type is crew-only.

as a side note, a couple of our pilots went through FSI and they tried to give them both CE-525s and the CE-525. The FAA sent that back and said you get one or the other, so CE-525s is better

The 3 best types (for diversity) in my opinion are the LR-JET, CE-500, CE-525. With those 3 types you can fly about 20 different aircraft

Got recurrent (C-525S) in March. Always get the 61.58 at recurrent and they said it was no longer required. They had a letter from FAA to back this up.

If there's one thing I've found, its don't believe ANYTHING that comes from a Part 142 training center instructor on the topic of operating single-pilot jets....in my experience they (as a collective) don't know what the hell they're talking about.

I'd be really curious to see what's in this alleged letter...because such a letter would have have to be an FAA Chief Counsel interpretation waiving the requirements of 61.58 for (S) typed pilots operating as a crew.

Haha yeah and a KA200. But as long as I'm flying props I'm going to complain about not flying jets. Likely when I start flying jets I'll complain about not flying props because the schedule sucks or something...
