True! Now that we have everyones attention, I am sure we can all see that when someone takes a fall, someone else picks up. Lots of US Air wholly owned guys been talking about "their" flying being undersold and the implicaion that this is done with the wholeheated blessing of the Mesa or any other, pilot group. Nothing is farther from the truth, after all it is USAir management that makes the decisions, who flys what route, the equiptment, the frequencies etc. And much to the suprise of many, NO ONE ASKES THE PILOT GROUP! No provision exists for disagreeing with management choices except to beeayatch on this board, call everyone a 'ho and refuse jumpseats to the alledged offenders. Great thinking, folks, intellectually vacant, irrational and the absolute worst in professonal behavior ANYWHERE! Claims about Mesa getting ahead while others get stiffed abound and now the question is: Will the Piedmont guys who are taking over former CLT CCAir flying refuse to do so? A Wildcat strike? Quit because they can "do it cheaper than CCAir?" If I follow the rational, taking over because you are a lower cost provider is as bad a pedophilia. Apparently taking over routes that CCAir will lose by fighting the the New Loranzo, JO, is apparently alright! Where is the outrage! Where is the rightous indignation! Didn't the Wholly owned regionals take over TONS of flying when Mainline downsized? Speaking of ROA, didn't 737's have 70 plus flights a day just 12 years ago? IND? DAY? Why did another low cost provider come in? Was it Jetstream?(PSA)? "New Piedmont?" New ALG? Is there no outrage for them by the WO faithful? I doubt it. For all the hysteria surrounding the issue, it seems that the planes will fly and the BS will too. Grow up, get togeather and fight back UNIFIED! or the WO's will have to make MORE concessions to get jets, some thing Mesa has NEVER done, another fact lost in th selfish whining of some............please folks, perspective here, we are down now, but live to fight another day......

fight back against Ornstein

CCAir is finally closed for good? Ornstein strikes again. How long are we going to put up with this guy. We as pilots need to get proactive. Write your local newspaper editorial section..especially you guys in Phoenix..tell the public what FREEDOM Air and Mesa are all about. The public needs to know how bad it is at these commuters. Most people dont have a clue that Mesa pilots start at 14, 000 a year and only have 3 set days off a month (8 total..only 3 are so called "golden"). I know its embarassing saying we make so little...but if the public knew and got some bad media going Jonathon Ornsteins way maybe he'd actually negoitate instead of playing these games with our lives and professions. WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING TO STOP THIS GUY!

Don't tell the public. Then they might actually think we are only worth 14,000 a year, or else why would pilots be lining up to take the job. We need to preserve the little respect we still harbour with the general public. Pretty soon they will be saying that 14,000 is more than enough for a guy/gal that just sits there and pushes a bunch of buttons, only works 100 hours an ENTIRE month, and gets to fly around the world for free with all his/her time off. Besides who wants a pilot making more money when it will just adversely affect the price of your ticket. Quite a few people think flying should cost less than the price of driving.

if they only knew

trust me people would stay away from airlines like Mesa, Freedom, great lakes, etc..if they knew the working conditions and pay of the people flying them around. Think about it...14,000 is less then min wage on a yearly basis. No pilot deserves that. I did work at Mesa..I think the pilots there need to start playing hard ball...what ever that may be

The PAX are already leary of flying in the first place. They do not need to know how bad the conditions are at the regionals within the pilot group. Negative articles are what is keeping the airlines down, along with bad management decisions. Negative news media is our worst enemy. If you try to write articles for the news, that will only worsen the cause. We do not need more negative publicity at this time. That is why the union of choice is the only way to stop this crap that management hands out. You have two choices, one is to look for another airline or two, work on changing the attitude and working conditions at the airline you are now at.

The APA did a scientific survey about 2 months ago of the general public. Most of the people said they believed pilots were not paid enough. They also said that management, not labor, was responsible for the industry condition.

This is with most people thinking that we all make $200,000 a year. If they knew we only made 14k they would definitely be on our side. Give the public a little bit more credit.

Public

If you think that the public cars about this other than their own safety, you are sadly mis informed. There is no interest in this kind of thing at all.

If the public belive that they get what they pay for when buying a ticket at an airline, ( I do belive they think in that direction ) don't you think that the public would be very scared to fly a commuter airline if they knew that the pilots at that company gets crapy pay?.......

Cheers!
