I wanted to solicit opinions from all you well-educated individuals on a subject that has less than nothing to do with airplanes: baby names.

Specifically...one of our neighbors recently gave birth to a boy and named him Lennon, after the Beatle.

Lennon. (Say it out loud.)

I can't hear it without thinking of Champions of Modern Communism...yet I seem to be the only one around who thinks this name was a bad choice. Anybody agree with me?

(And if anyone here is named Lennon, my sincerest apologies.)

Lenin

It means something to us 50+ folks, but by the time "Lennon's" generation comes of age Soviet Communism may well be history book fodder only.

Interesting point you make, however.

I suppose it is better than "Lenin". It certainly has "Beatle" beat by a long way. "Ringo" is not real fantastic. So, on the bright side it could be worse.

If they were fans of Groucho, they could have named him Marx. :D
Ba-dum-dum! Oh, that's bad! :D

(The worst part is that I sat here for fifteen minutes trying to come up with a Lenin/Lennon parallel and got nada...then Timebuilder spits out the Marx Brothers. Ouch.)

Baby Names

I agree, Lennon is not a good name.

We are expecting our second child soon and if the baby is a boy, I wanted to name him Thor Axeblood-Skullsplitter (a much more masculine name than Lennon).

Hmm, if they're such big John Lennon fans why not call the kid, oh, I don't know, JOHN?!!

Well that sure wouldn't be my first choice! It amazes me some of the names people come up with to name children......especially here in the south.....

Voss
YOU GO!!! oh, what did mom have to say about that one...!?

Baby Names

Well, ATR, you know, you've got to pick your battles....

Vos, Lennon (Lenin)... the latest pop trends in kids names are last names and cities it seems like here in Texas. I guess being named after a Texas hero would be pretty good though. Fortunately the wife and I agreed on normal, 'merican names for our kids.

Got a brother, sister-in law who named their kids using former president's last names. They have another kid and name it Clinton and I will have to say something!

vossdr1 - very cool name idea!!

"Alex - what does a pilot tell a head hunter after numerous flying jobs and bankruptcy of his most recent airline?"

Hey, the tag line distracted me. sorry :p

Lennon, Lenin: Same thing

Both were leftist idealists that had tyrannical figures enter their lifes and corrupt their dreams (Yoko and Stalin). Poor kid, he can forget becoming President.
