Ok folks I know most of you are ATP’s and probably not flying VFR very often. I think looking at VFR sectionals is fun. It’s neat to look at the details. However I do have some concerns with what I have seen on the VFR sectionals. For example on the Memphis Sectional, down around Vicksburg MS. You will see in a blue box the fallowing.

Caution Laser Light Acitivity
See Airport Facility Directory
For Information

Ok. That’s bothers me. What kind of activity is this? I understand that it is Laser Light, obviously, but where does it originate? Have you all read Lasers V.S. Aviation?

http://www.propilot.com/

Go to the Lasers vs. Aviation Section. It’s troubling. Also does the caution area ONLY exist in the lat and longitude box where it lies?

Thanks,
J.

My hometown is a little south of Vicksburg, the laser lights are at the Vicksburg casinos.

Believe me, it ain't hard at all to find a fight in Vicksburg ,MS.

Seriously, Vicksburg fell to Grant on July 4, 1863. The city of Vicksburg did not celebrate the 4th of July until 1945!! My dad, born in '33, had relatives there. He could remember visiting as a child on July 4th. He said it was absolutely the most quiet day of the year.

Any body who shoots a laser light into the air must notify the FAA - usually these are just demonstration lasers (i.e. cloud writing in lieu of fireworks or other aerial displays). There is a pretty complete list found on your DUATS weather packet if you ask for FDC NOTAMs.

People are especially afraid of lasers since both our military and the Russian (ex-Soviet) military dabbled in using lasers to blind the opposition's pilots. (What will these scientists think of next?)

Out here on the east coast we get a lot of those warnings for the Casino's in Atlantic City, NJ, Hershey Park in Pennsylvania, Dorney Park between Philly and Allentown, etc. etc. I guess folks must love those laser light shows!

Fly safe - do not look at the laser source.

and with the vicious actions of Sheman and other Federal generals, burning Atlanta, destruction of numerous farms and other personal property, its no wonder resentment (has) lasted so long. It wasn't a civil war, it was a war for Southern independence.

Whats this say about this site on the sectional "Caution laser light activeity" I don't see no... ahhh my eyes.

We have several of those warnings around here with Disney, and all the theme parks, to be honest, I haven't seen one laser light yet.
