How graphical are they? What format are they in? Do you think it would be a helpful/educational tool for a pilot to own? How easy are they to use?

I haven't used or seen one for over 2 years now, but if you understand the systems just a little it would more than likely help you with isolating your problems. Do you know anyone with an old copy? So you can play with it before you decide to buy it? They used to lock out by calendar date and I heard you could change the date in your computer to make it work. Then you can decide.
 
Basically its only about 7 bucks and the guy said it has lots of good pictures. It helps to be able to see things sometimes and he said it has pictures of pretty much everything and in depth schematics. He also said you can more or less type in a problem and it gives you suggestions on what the mx problem could be. Seems like a good took to me?
