Does anyone have info on first year pay for Cathay Pacific's Direct Entry FO program for their 747 freighters?

True, Cliff. But Dubai over Hong Kong???? Hahahahahahahahahahahaha.......... You're killing me...

The numbers I posted were for Aircrew Services Limited (ASL), a subsidiary of Cathay that operates the freighter fleet. The pay at the main line B-Scale maxes at around 230,000 US, plus a fully funded retirement plan plus other benefits. Seems like a great company and really nice people. In all I would say not a bad deal, the life style wasn’t for me so I turned it down.

If I remember correctly, ASL was merged with CX several years ago due to seniority issues with the mainline. The following payscale is seperate from the pax fleet, and only applies to North American bases.

Anyway, the USAB Freighter payscale that I have from 2000 is:
(North American Base, USD)

First Officer:

1. $57,780
2. $63,504
3. $69,072
4. $74,484
5. $79,740
6. $84,840
7. $89,784
8. $94,560
9. $96,000
10. $97,500

Captain:

1. $106,956
2. $110,364
3. $113,880
4. $117,504
5. $121,260
6. $125,112
7. $129,096
8. $133,212
9. $137,460
10. $141,940

In addition to the above figures, an additional 15.5% is provided for the provident fund (401k).

The Emirates pay scale isn't anywhere near the Cathay pay scale. The top Emirates captain is at about $130,000 after 15 years. That is a long way from the A-scale Cathay Captains. Even the B-Scale Cathay guys make a lot more. Still, you need to look at the total package and lifestyle issues to make a good decision. Cathay's pay is higher but what is the cost of living in Hong Kong compared to Dubai ? What are the lifestyle differences ? I can play all the golf I want in Dubai for less than $1000 per year. What is the cost in Hong Kong for one round of golf ?

Emirates is trying to be a better airline than Cathay and Singapore and might just overtake them by 2010 with some of the innovations in service on the new A-340-500/600, 777-300ER and Airbus 380.
