Yea, no jumpseating unfortuntly, except for the odd and end's on jetBlue.
I travel mostly on ID90's. You get them on AA, BA, and some other OneWorld carriers for you and your family, plus 2 other relitives that you nominate every year.
I've read this thread (and most of the Cathay website) but couldn't find the exact answer I was looking for - is it true that the official retirenment age is 55 years at Cathay? According to the website it indirectly hinted at that (talking about loss of license insurance) but never specifically mentions that.
I'm interested in the US freghter side of things at Cathay but also 40 years old, and would rather put in a good 19+ years at a major rather than 14+ to mandatory retirement.
On the freighter side you can stay until 60 and even LONGER!!!! It's true, a captain is flying past 60 as we speak.
On the PAX side you can stay with all the benifits until 60 if you are a check and training captain. If not, just go back over to the freight side, but you loose some benifits and pay.
Does anyone know what is the latest edition of "Preparing for your Cathay Pacific Interview" is? I've seen the 11th edition available online, but the date is 2005 - curious if there is a more recent edition.
A friend that interviewed there recently said that if you start in the US on the frieghter side, and then want to upgrade, you have to take the move to Hong Kong- is that true?
He said the rumor was that it was a 95% failure rate for those that didn't make the move but went for the upgrade.
Hi...I was reading all the cathay info and it's been definitely helpful. I know their minimums are 1000TT and a multi rating. I have the total time and an A320 type rating. Can anyone tell me if I would stand a chance at the interview with having only a 1000TT. Any help is appreciated
