can anyone give me info on flying to the caribbean? Interested in going to the island of anguilla. Any info regarding customs, airport info, fuel if any, flight planning, etc. would be appreciated. Flown to mexico a few times and wondering if the procedures are similar on the trip down and the return to the states. thanks

Flown into Anguilla many times...Years ago,

Pretty laid back, don't remember much hassle with custom and immigration, if any.

Flat island, no terrain, easy runway, no problems.

Check ATC, ya may be under St. Maarten control even if coming from the North or West...Or fly below all the control zones, the drug smugglers do anyway, no radar down there, at least not 2 years ago.

Caribb guide

We keep this book in our plane. Pretty handy for airports throughout the Bahamas and Caribbean. There is a photo of each field, traffic patterns, fuel, customs and immigration fees, landing and nav fees.........ETC. Also an informative section on Gen Decs and all of your paperwork in/out of each airport.
The downside is it's $50. http://www.pilotpub.com/id2.html

Anguilla is currently closed for a couple of months for a runway extention. You would have to go to a neighboring island an take a ferry. The flying is pretty straight foward...just a short runway.
