Channel 7 is reporting a cargo plane was struck by lightning last night in the snowstorm at ORD. Anybody got any info on this? They said there was debris scattered on the runway.

Don't know about that. This morning I heard on the radio that a cargo plane had slid off the only open runway @ ORD. A quick check on the web (CNN) brought up this blurb published by AP:

A Fed Ex cargo plane arriving Friday morning at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport slipped into the mud off the only open runway, and crews were working to tow it away. There were no injuries, said Wendy Abrams, a spokeswoman for the Chicago Department of Aviation.

Report I heard was it was a NW flight (this is from the radio so no idea if it is 100% correct) and that the lightning arc'ed off the aircraft and blew up a sign near runway scattering debris.

Also a FX plane skidded off the runway.
