Hi everyone...

I've just completed my secondary(high) school, awaiting for my O level results. Will be quite free for the holidays and so on... was thinking of getting a part-time job(in aviation) - experience.

Apparently and sadly, i have yet to start piloting as for where i am, the flight sch(YFC) accept people - full-time students in junior colledge, pre-U, etc... I won't be a full-time student in any of them til next year.

So, what jobs will it be available for me? Any recommandations?

I've checked CAAS's and SIA's websites, their requirements are at least either a diploma or an A level certificate. Then, i thought of other airlines that had their office located SIN but their website seems only to show the jobs available for their own country....
Any idea where to get the jobs infomation for other airlines job recuritment in SIN?

Thanks a million, billion, zillion!!

Hi Vicar

I was having a little trouble finding out what country you're from.

Sounds like you're near Singapore? Sorry if I'm wrong.

I've never been there so I can't speak intelligently about what opportunities are available to you.

But a lot of people in the US start by pumping fuel at the airport or 'throwing bags' (baggage handler).

You might also try for Customer Service Agent behind the ticket counter.

All of these are good entry level jobs in the airline industry but probably won't lead to any flying position unless you already have the necessary experience.

Try to be patient. I remember when I was your age I couldn't wait for my first airline job. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply

Sorry that i didn't myself clear. I'm in singapore and yup! i can't wait for an airline job but, i don't want to deal with customers such as the check-in counter or so. It's so far away from the planes. :p haha...being choosy here you might say. Seen the website for SIA/CAAS, most of their job requirements are a minimum of either a diploma cert or an A-level cert. That's the problem.

I have neither of them and guess what? I'm waiting for my O level cert. - the cert. before A/diploma. :(

Nay you can start earlier in secondary school but you will take up piloting as a CCA(co-curriculum activities).

There are 2 sections, intake students for secondary schools as a CCA and another for full-time students in either colledge, polytechnics, universities. (As a private students? Nothing to do with the school?) For colldege, there is an exception, it is possible to take it up as a CCA too, thus able to earn CCA points thru PILOTING!! These are bonus points that could be use in entries to universities! :D
