Bases up north:
Hyannis - HYA is where 90% of the north based pilots are based.
2-3 year round lines based in MVY (went junior last year)
2 lines in PVC, 3 in the summer. (Pretty much unobtainable)
about 10-12 lines in the summer at BOS, but they go senior usually
I think like 5 lines out of EWB in the winter and 10 or so in the summer. These also tend to go senior.
Schedules vary. It really depends on base and season, but typically you can expect a 5 on and 2 off line for a while.
Some are Commutable, I used to commute to Philadelphia, but I had a crashpad apt on the cape with another dude. Bids come out irregularly. Like some bids last a month and some last 3 months. There isn't "Reserve" per say, but some lines contain backup days which means you WILL work, but you won't know your schedule until the night before... If you need to know your schedule in advance DONT BID BACKUP LINES... All schedules have at least 2 days off in a week. I was never junior manned and I honestly don't think that they EVER junior man anyone. If you want to make money, then you can volunteer shifts whenever you want. Trip trading is on your own and sometimes people post available days or days they want to get rid of in Ops.
There are 4 and 3s out there but you have to get lucky to get one your first year..
Things may have changed a little in the past few months, so any imput from a current employee would probably..
