Anyone hear of Cair looking to operate ATRs in EWR? Heard that noise departing IAH the other day. More rumors than jobs in aviation.

I don't think they can. I read something a few years ago about the Port Authority not letting any props back into EWR unless they were grandfathered. I don't think anybody flies props into EWR anymore, so I don't believe there will be any new entrants. FWIW.

we'll see if Port Authority makes an acception when oil hits $150 a barrel. Who know it may have already.

Hadn't thought about the port authority. Still kinda curious as to where Cair wanted to go with the ATR after their 121 start up ops in PGUM. IAH seems crowded too.

I saw a Piedmont Dash 8 in EWR last week...i dont know if it was scheduled or not but it was sitting at the US Air gates.....

I'd like to know where they're going to get some ATRs. I friend in the bidness tells me that ATRs are a hot commodity right now. Rates above $70k a month to lease.

They have three ATRs in PGUM and ops have been ongoing for about 2.5 yrs. Last I looked there were quite a few former COEX ATRs sitting in the desert sun.

I believe they've had three ATRs there for over a year. I don't recall the details or their future plans... Must've been a fun ferry flight!

Well they all made it here from Toulouse. The ATR 72 can hold about 11,000 lbs of gas and burns about 1800 lbs/hour. At 280kt, that about 1700 miles per leg!

PDT was grandfathered in as was COEX when the NY Port Auth. Changed the rules back around 99-2000. The rules said no carrier may establish turbo prop service into ewr that has not already been actively flying in there. Although it's Jersey. You just gotta know who to greese:D

That is the smartest thing I have read on FI in a long time.
