Firstly, I like to say that this is the first time I am posting on this board.
I have viewed the board many times and believe that a lot of you give sound advice and opinions.
I had my car broken into and - yes you guessed it - my flightbag was stolen and that included my LOGBOOK.
-of course I don't have any copies of it - I renewed my CFI in FEB of this year and I have a copy of my 8710 - I've probably only flown 50hrs or so since -
my question:- What is the most professional and the best way to start a new logbook so that if an airline were to look at it in an interview they would find it acceptable?
I have looked at previous threads on the subject, but would like opinions on the most professional way to go.

Thanks everyone.

Welcome to the forum.

I wish I had a good answer, but your situation does give me the opportunity to suggest that everyone make copies of all important pages of their logbooks. Make a copy of your important achievements (such as checkrides).

Try something like Logbook Pro, then you can have a backup stored at home or wherever. As for the lost logbook, can't help you there, sorry.

how about your old instructors logbooks? they should have all your training recorded in their books. you can request your records from the FAA, they may have your old 8710 forms showing flighttime breakdowns. if you went part 141 they have to keep the syllabus for a certain amount of time.

I can probably retrieve some of the time, I fly part61.
then again we're only really talking about 50hrs or so. Half of that I was instructing so I can look at student books - so it's probably not a big deal:-
I'm just wondering how to go about starting a new logbook professionally.
Thanks for the responses

Hi...

Unfortunately, there is not an easy way to to remedy this situation. It's going to take a bit of time to accomplish and you may never be able to retrieve all the information.

A few suggestions...

Are you currently employed as a Flight Instructor or Flight Crewmember? Your company will have records which you can research in order for you to re-establish a log. As mentioned earlier, your previous instructor(s) should be able to help as well, if you can locate them. You may have to begin your new log from the last 8710 you submitted.

It's also not unheard of to offer a reward for the recovery of the property, provided it's worth it to you.

Another thing you must consider is where you kept the record of training you're required to keep for instruction given to clients.

As far as starting a new logbook, and as mentioned previously, the Logbook Pro in addition to a hard copy would be my choice.

Regards
