Can anybody give me more information on Ameristar Jet Charter ..They operate out of Addison (ADS) out of Dallas..Their stability & service..
Thanx in

All of this is second hand from a friend flying there. So......

Good jet time, approx 600-800 year.
Pay is base +mileage. FO approx 40 Cpt approx 70
Gone all the time. 10 on 4 off
No crew rest per se. 14 hour stand up with 6 off seems to be the norm.
Lots of Canada and ol Mexico.
10-12 month upgrade.
Cpt upgrade on lear is cheaper than falcon (18 month contract)
Dirty work. Shorts, tshirt, etc load own cargo
FO instruments don't work. Fly like you are instructing again.
Don't climb too steep or flame out.
Engine out is the norm
So is cockpit fire
Most hate it. Some don't
Good stepping stone of some sorts.

Again, second hand.

Good luck

Don't do it if you value your licenses and/or your life. Their safety record is anything but outstanding. (two fatal crashes in the last four years I believe - and that, with less than 60 pilots on the 135 side of the house) You will never see home, see VERY questionable maintenance practices - outdated manuals etc.

Definately stay away. It's not worth it. I have several friends who "used" to work there. Overworked, management that treats pilots as a necessary evil, and some of the worst maintenance out there, even for freight dogs.

Stay alive and violation free, don't go.

If you are looking for a good freight job, look at Active Aero, or USA Jet. HQ is in detroit, unfortunately, but I have run into several guys who are based other places.

Well maintained ac and some room for moving up into larger ac (dc-9).

Hey EagleFlip- This thread was posted on three different boards. There are people saying negative things about this company. Why has every Pacific Jet post been deleted yet this thread remains? How was it missed? It was right below Ace-of-the-Base's thread.

Hi!

Active Aero is the parent co. of USA Jet. The only pilot base for USAJ is YIP.

They do have individual dc-9 and da-20 crews based at various places around the country with an airplane. I ran into one at SDF. They told me there are several at other "freight" airports.
Not sure if you need seniority to go to one of those or not though.

Hi!

USA Jet (aka Active Aero) has one pilot base.

YIP.

USAJ pilots and their planes (Falcon 20s and -9s) can be seen at airports throughout N. America. They often stay the night(s) there.

The only base is YIP.
