I heard the "REACH" call-sign used yesterday, and I was wondering the same thing. Sure enough, 4 C-17's arrived, unloading G.W's support vehicles for a campaign stop today.

I'm trying to be a "kinder, gentler" poster, but sometimes I can't pass up a perfect opportunity to be a smart ass. Hope none of the real REACH guys are ticked...chalk it up to that old inter-service rivally thing...cherrio and all that jazz!

Yes. I was recently in Christchurch New Zealand, where the USANG uses them to support operations at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. They have skis on 'em. I think this alters the AC designation to LC141.

No skis required at the main McMurdo runway - it's actually a really nice strip. About 10,000 by 300 and well grooved. During the main delivery season, the ice is over 10 feet thick, and below that........water - gulp!
