Looking at calling in sick to go on a vacation. Do you think it's wise to do this if you jumpseat on another airline? Thanks.

Don't do it. Apparently anytime CASS is used, your own airline is notified.

Do we work for the same company? If so are you senior to me? If you answered yes to both by all means go for it!

If you want an all expense paid trip to visit your Chief Pilot; go for it.
Buy a ticket & keep a low profile at work.

Just as you can't jumpseat and have a beer, you can't jumpseat and be sick as you are a crewmember while jumpseating. Just have scheduling change your off days to make it happen. If not, buy a zed fare.

Must be a senior jegBlue guy trying to get some time in the summer. If you call in sick, buy a ticket.

Exercising the "sick call" can give you that personal day(s) you need away from work. I feel it is your right to use it whenever and however you see fit (even when you really are sick). Just be smart and stay away from airports when you exercise this right.

Thanks for the truthful inputs everyone. I'll just move the vacation back a few days. Wouldn't want to jeopardize a career.

I always view dilemmas such as this through asking myself how can I accomplish this task without screwing this privilege up for my fellow pilot/employees! Thanks!
