You can actually download the telezapper tones also and put then on your answering machine too

Are you never going to leave the house for months and hold the phone in your hand???!!

I totally agree. Every aviation related company I've been contacted to interview with has notified me either by mail, or has left me a voice mail message. The majority of these companies have come up on my caller ID with their phone number and company name.

If you absolutely feel its necessary to answer the phone all the time, then keep in mind, that when telemarketers call, you usually have to say, "hello" twice, before they start talking. So, if I get an "out of area" number and say "hello" once, and don't hear anything, I usually just hang up. Atleast, that's worked for me.
