Continental Airlines Chosen as Best Airline for North American Travel by Business Traveler Magazine Readers
Thursday December 6, 3:43 pm ET
HOUSTON, Dec. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL - News) outranked all other U.S. carriers to be chosen as the Best Airline for North American Travel in Business Traveler magazine's 2007 Readers' Choice Best in Business Travel Survey.
Continental also placed highest among U.S. airlines for Best Flight Attendants in North America and Best In-flight Services in North America. The awards will be presented to the airline in Los Angeles on Jan. 17, 2008.
"Unlike our competitors, Continental Airlines has maintained cabin comforts and continues to provide complimentary meals at mealtimes," said Jim Compton, Continental's executive vice president of marketing. "We are continuing to modernize our fleet by taking delivery of two to three new aircraft each month in 2008, while upgrading existing aircraft with in-seat power and video on demand."
Business Traveler is one of the world's leading business travel authorities. The Readers' Choice Best in Business Travel Survey is compiled solely from the responses of Business Traveler readers to recognize the companies which have made business travel more enjoyable.
Continental Airlines is the world's fifth largest airline. Continental, together with Continental Express and Continental Connection, has more than 3,100 daily departures throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia, serving 144 domestic and 138 international destinations. More than 580 additional points are served via SkyTeam alliance airlines. With more than 45,000 employees, Continental has hubs serving New York, Houston, Cleveland and Guam, and together with Continental Express, carries approximately 67 million passengers per year. Continental consistently earns awards and critical acclaim for both its operation and its corporate culture.
For the fourth consecutive year, FORTUNE magazine named Continental the No. 1 World's Most Admired Airline on its 2007 list of World's Most Admired Companies. Continental was also named the No. 1 airline on the publication's 2007 America's Most Admired airline industry list. Additionally, Continental again won major awards at the OAG Airline of the Year Awards including "Best Airline Based in North America" for the fourth year in a row, and "Best Executive/Business Class" for the fifth consecutive year. I wish my pay was tied into the number of awards won by the airline each year. I'd make more than the CEO, no wait, CFO.:p

No insurance for new hires = more comfortable seats for business men.

Elementary my dear Watson. LOL

In that same report, JetBlue was named best low cost carrier in North America. Yet, I believe they offer more perks like 36 channels of live TV, 100 channels of XM radio, all the snacks you can eat, and now internet e-mail via blackberries and wifi. What does CAL have besides pillows and meal service?

Presidents clubs. Last year we had so many Jetblue passengers in terminal A try the $45 a day price at the P-Club just so they could get schnockered, score some free food, and watch cable.

First Class

Actually CAL does not have First Class. They have Business First. This is the reason CAL wins best business class each year. They are not compared to First Class on other carriers. CAL BF does not compare to other international airlines First Class.

Actually it does. I wasn't referring to international service because he was comparing CAL to JetBlue. If you go to Continental.com it refers to this type of service as "First Class / Business Class / BusinessFirst"

"Continental Airlines along with all U.S. SkyTeam carriers have a two-class layout, First/BusinessFirst and Economy Class. On international flights using the Boeing 757 (-200 only), 767 and 777, the premium cabin service is known as BusinessFirst, the equivalent of business class with deep recline/near flat seats, while on all domestic flights, the premium cabin service is simply known as First Class with domestic first class seats."

And Delta has Business Elite and Virgin, Upperclass, both of which are similar products.
