CAL to Reduce Captain Slots, furlough?

word around campus is that 90 % of the gummers are staying. a reduction bid is coming.. a loss of 120 captains. who knows how many f/o's. selling aircraft and getting new ng's..

Not to disagree, but...

After walking a friends stuff in, have heard that the revised/reduced hiring numbers that came out last month are still good and may actually rise again.

Also, still believe we will have a net increase of aircraft this year. Word is still out on a few extra triples too, not to mention the NG's.

Also believe that a few people may be going on mil leave this year (not me...lol) and acouple are moving on to other things.

Reduction (Flush) bid rumor I've heard, based on 65. But I will bet money that it doesn't effect us too much. Yeah, some will not get their Captain training class maybe, and I expect to be on reserve for a longer period, but I am NOT worried about the "F" word!

Quit telling lies! 100% are staying! :crying: A 120 CA reduction does not mean anyone gets bumped. Only half of the last bid is completed. Still hiring 250+ After age 65 and previous reduction in growth. Net gain of 19 aircraft as per current plan for this year.

I'll bet there are sites around that could not possibly offend or insult your fragile sensibilities. May I suggest you do a search for "Sesame Street" perhaps "the Wiggles" or maybe even the "Care Bears." I'll bet those sites have servers with just enough bandwidth to handle your traffic. It would be a win-win for all....You wouldn't get all offended by the fact that there are mean people in the world, we wouldn't have to listen to your pansy whining any more.

Easy fix....Have all of the F/O's put the gummers on their no-fly list......end of problem and a new round of upgrades for all

first of all the company says their over staffed for the last four months including February we have had a VRF Vol Reduction of Flying. Company basically asking guys to take time off without pay, but not furloughing. If we are over staffed why is reserve min coverage below everyday and we are all flying 80+ hours a month with most of us with only 12 days off.

a second issue I think the company has on their hand is if they have a displacement their are a lot of guys that already have been trained out of senoirty order according to a captain that I'm flying with that does union work.

We just have to wait and see what they have in store for all of us at Cal. Hopefully something soon.

Ripple down effect of downbids.

Ex. 1 Captain reduction and they go to 777 F/O, knocks the bottom 777 F/O to 756 F/O who knocks the bottom 756 F/O to 737 F/O. Mix in changing bases it can get messy

All in theory of course.
