Not holding my breath but I was in GSR Sunday and the IAH chief came in gave his your doing a great job speech and by the way we should see a SYSTEM BID on Wednesday the 15th. He did say he wasn't sure if DEN or ORD would be reflected on this bid but there would be 100 plus slots open on it.

I don't think you will have to go that far out wed the 15th could be in aug 2012.

The last furlough update said 963 offers have been sent out. Assuming the 5:1 acceptance continues, 100 slots should cover the entire furlough list (1437-963 = 474). The only unanswered question is if they are going to have classes this summer or not. Hopefully we will know more soon...

24.3.C.2. At least two (2) System Bids must be awarded each calendar year. These awards must occur no more than eight (8) months apart, one in the period January through June and the other in the period July through December.

From this I get four possible dates.
-- the last bid opened 14 July so 8 months is 14 March
-- the last bid closed 26 July so 8 months is 26 March
-- the last bid was run "in July" so 8 months later is "in March," so it could be as late as 31 March
-- the last bid was called "12-08" so 8 months after "08" is April, so it could be as late as 30 April

The fact is they can miss any of these dates and who's going to say or do anything about it? The last two monthly bid cycles they weren't able to comply the opening of the bid period. In January PBS simply was unavailable at 10 am. After a mad scramble it opened 8 hours late with a mea culpa and the pilots getting punished by having to wait even longer than normal to get their February schedule. In February it opened on time but the trip info was inaccurate in many BESs. Again a mild mea culpa with a hint of "oh well."

A late system bid will likely be met with the same.

The bid will come out before the doomsday scenario you paint and some scabby DEN commuters may shout HOORAY while junior IAH newhires may go GMAFB. It will also show a comical amount of retirements per usual. As always we will be adequately staffed this summer because enough CAL pilots have such paltry personal lives that they have nothing better to do on their days off then fly the right seat.

I think the UAL 2007 hires will come back at a higher acceptance rate. Only opinion.

They've had the longest time to find work. And come back to first year pay, again. I see a higher bypass rate coming.

I fall into that group and here is a random sampling of what some of my classmates have been doing.

There is a large contingent of people at Fly Dubai and they are all making good money as NG Capts. A handful of people are working at the FAA and are on the fence about returning. A few more went back to Corporate flying and were unsure about returning. Many went back to the military and were going to wait for a JCBA before considering coming back.

Personally, I'm leaning towards waiting for a new contract and seeing if we get Longevity credit for furlough time. I would be going back at $51 an hour and would be at the very bottom of the list, sitting reserve in EWR. The only good reason I see for taking the job is the ability to vote on a contract and perhaps be eligible for some sort of signing bonus. I'm not sure it makes sense to leave my current job, though.

Totally agree most guys who are flying will not come back to do a second year of first year pay only to have guys come in on top of them who initially bypassed. Lets see the contract first....

Well it just goes to show you, you can't trust management. I guess they still have 4.5 hours to get the bid posted by the 15th.

Mr. Fox is the same one who had all the great things to say about the IPads we are getting 2 years ago.

For what it is worth, I had an instructor and a check airman both tell me in GSR at IAH in late Jan. that a MAJOR 737 order is "imminent". It is now mid Feb.......... (cricket sounds).
