HOUSTON, March 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL - News) today announced that it was again rated the top airline on FORTUNE magazine's annual airline industry list of World's Most Admired Companies. This is the fifth consecutive year that Continental has topped that list. The airline also ranked No. 41 on FORTUNE's World's Most Admired Companies "Top 50" list, which ranks companies in a wide variety of industries. This award is a reflection of the consistent professionalism and hard work of my more than 45,000 co-workers, who proveagain and again that they are the best in the industry," Chairman and CEO Larry Kellner said. "We continue to focus on providing a world-class product and industry-leading service, and I am proud that my co-workers' superb efforts have been recognized by FORTUNE for the fifth consecutive year."
The rankings are determined in a survey of corporate and airline executives, boards of directors and industry analysts. Companies are evaluated according to the following criteria: quality of products/services, global competitiveness, people management, quality of management, social responsibility, innovation, use of corporate assets, financial soundness and long-term investment.
