When I am receiving a line check I am listed as the FO for the trip.

when you are receiving a line check, you are still the captain. Look at the FOM. The chain of command is the Captain first, LCA second, FO third. Now of course, the LCA, if need be, can unqualify you on the spot and take command, but absent that, the captain is still the captain. The LCA is sitting in the jumpseat.

If you are receiving an OE, then the LCA is the pilot on command, but you are still listed as a captain (if you are a new captain receiving the OE). Check out the crew list at the gate. Both the LCA and the OE captain will be listed as "A".
