From our latest MEC news at CAL
Aloha, ATA and champion pilots offered assistance
After learning that Aloha, ATA and Champion Airlines were ending operations, the CAL MEC sent letters to the respective MEC Chairmen on behalf of the CAL MEC and the Continental pilots, expressing our support. These three airlines ceased operations through no fault of the pilots or their fellow employees. It is at times like these when ALPA pilots must stand together in support of each other.
In an effort to assist the ALPA pilots at these carriers, we have asked our management to provide jumpseat privileges on Continental Airlines for all Aloha, ATA and Champion pilots for 30 days after cessation of operations by their carriers. Additionally, we have asked that Continental provide preferential hiring opportunities to qualified pilots from these carriers, when hiring once again commences. We received confirmation from our management that both of these courtesies will be extended. For these pilots to take advantage of the future potential job opportunities, they will need to go online and submit their resumes at http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/content/company/career/pilot.aspx.
If you see Aloha, ATA or Champion pilots during your day, please make sure they are aware of the support provided to them by their fellow ALPA pilots during this difficult time.
