Considering hiring forecasts, retirements, and new aircraft, does anyone know what the end strength pilot staffing looks like? Currently I see about 4,700, but it looks like we should be going over 5,000 pilots in the next year or two.

I'm pretty sure that I heard right because the amount is supposed to be valued at about a months salary. Who knows though.

ACWild,

It has nothing to do with a month's salary. The profit sharing pool is based off of the company's full year pre-tax net income (a sliding scale). The more money we make, the more goes into the pool. The percentage of one's W-2 that one can expect for a profit sharing check is directly related to the pre-tax net income for the year as well as the company's employee payroll (and the pilot group's payroll). Half of the size of the pool is also dependent upon the relative portion of the concessionary wage cuts and the other half is dependent upon relative wages of all employees. This information can be found in an employee bulletin on www.coair.com. We have made roughly $370 million for the first 9 months of this year. If we don't make or lose another penny but just break even for the 4th quarter, profit sharing would be about 6.2% from what I can tell. If we make $200 million more my guess would be that it would be about 8%. Those guesstimates (and just that, guesses...so don't hold me to those numbers come 2/14/07) are based off of a profit sharing model I built using the employee bulletin's information.

That's not what I meant. I meant that I'm sure that I heard 8 percent because I also heard that it's going to be about a month's salary. Other than that, I didn't dig any deeper. It's going to be in my paycheck or it's not.
Good info though. Thanks!
