A big thanks to the IAH TI Captain for flying right seat tonight to EWR- LHR Flight 112!!! Thanks to you and all the saviors, the company is able to keep the operation running!

The union has come out against Captains flying in the right seat but I guess you don't care... In fact, I bet you love the great deal "contract 02" you have and would trade scope in able to get rid of UAL's max 87 block so that you could fly 100hrs a month...

Some CAL pilots just don't get it....

Hopefully he had a lonely layover and cockpit conversation was kept to professional topics of discussion only.

yeah I am sick of ALPA allowing training department guys taking open time out of seniority /or in order...order. I once put in a trip trade....denied! Why, because an instructor wanted to pick up some open time. I also like how they take great flying away from line pilots even when they are super Jr.

Alaska IPs do the same damn thing. That's one of the reasons the primary criteria for the new Alaska IPs was they had to be SEA locals.

I can assure you that EWR-LHR 3 Day is not a sought after trip so seriously doubt this was cherry picked. In reality this guy is flying because they are out of FO's and perhaps also reserve capts refusing to fly rt seat. :p
People Express oops I mean CAL summer staffing was eloquently summed up by our Over 60 EWR CP earlier this month; "A church is not going to build a bigger parking lot just to accommodate Christmas day.”

Something that should be added, not all the instructors want to do this flying. Sure, they get a lot of pay for it, but it's not like they can decline it.

What did not happen at UAL was the over 60 situation prior to the law change. CAL's training department is all over 60. The EWR CP is referenced above in the quote by a CAL pilot.

CAL violated the law and CAL ALPA "studied" the issue. Where was the lawsuit? Where was the group grievance?

CAL ALPA rolled over on job protection and let its pilots get furloughed because of jobs illegally taken by those who should have been retired!

Only at CAL!

Hey phildico,

What issue have you rolled over on the CAL pilots today during negotiations?

Did you give away the SCOPE? Did you tell management selling the B767 was OK? Did you put some more pilot constraints on PBS?

PHILDICO IS just like his name sounds.
