CAL April Fleet Plan?

Heard rumors that there might be an April Fleet Plan/System Bid.... Any truth?

The April rumor was alive and well for a few weeks however the current rumor is that there will be no April bid and instead a normal system bid in August that will result in all recalls and hiring for the 1st QT of next year.

If this August bid takes place, recalls should be in class in Sept or Oct.....but in the end, who knows. From what I've been hearing, the company has yet to make a final decision a number of issues like staffing, LAX, increased GUM flying and hiring. We'll see. Additionally, the contract talks will probably play a part in all of this. The company will probably offer another carrot in return for the recalls they need anyway, CALALPA will say no and the company will announce that it can no longer afford to recall or open LAX because of ALPA non compliance....this will get trickier before we see real movement. Stay tuned.

THe only thing I keep hearing is the merger anouncement coming out later this month. I have a very good freind in IAH who is taking bets it will be announced before the end of April because of who he knows. I'm in for a case of Shiner that it ain't gonna hapen.

What about the latest, June bid? Heard from a couple of sources.

BTW, I think every few months the latest bid rumor starts. In Nov. it was recalls in Jan. In Feb, it was recall in Apr with LAX base. Now in Apr., bid in June with recalls and hiring by the fall. Eventually, it will be right, just not sure when.

You couldn't be more right! I think wishful thinking has taken over and we're gonna see bid rumors every couple of weeks. In the end, I expect normal contract style (2/yr) bids with the next one or two containing some movement from attrition and new a/c deliveries. Neither of which will be the MOAB that has been rumored but I think a few hundred here and there.

Even with the anchoring to the Titanic, that Aug bid will be before any merger is approved. I guess we can return to CAL for a few months and then go to the bottom of the combined recall list. This industry is never boring.
