How long to hold 756 IAH for new-hires and what are the trips and the flying like????

Thanks

About six months, that's based on the hire date of the junior guy on the August bid award. The flying is mostly domestic. Only one European destination(AMS) for now, there's talk that the Heathrow trip will the a 764. The Pacific flying is great, but senior. Mostly domestic flying for the junior folk, with Quito and Lima thrown in for fun.

Awesome airplane, though.

One LHR fligth will be with the 767-200,and LGW will be 764. This according to the last press release, but I would think the 764 would be better on LHR but we will have to see. Plus there is the 777-300ER rumor.

CLO and EZE too, no?

Don't forget about the base trade!! You can cut that down to nothing if you can swap with someone and there's no objection.

Are the reserves used and abused in IAH like they are in EWR?

On the 737, yes.

On the 756, I cant answer. I was never in EWR on the 756. I just trained on the airplane and I waited til I was a lineholder to make the jump. That being said reserve usage ranged from the 40s to above guarantee for November.

Wow. I thought the 756 IAH was at least a 12 month wait. Six months is great.

Any idea how long to hold IAH 737? Thanks

For the most part, the time req'd to get to IAH on the 737 is mostly dependent upon how long til the next bid. If you start just before a bid comes out, it'll be quick. If you start just after a bid comes out, it'll be longer.

Also, it was six months for the person to be awarded the position. Being trained is a different matter. For example, i bid 756 last January and I went to training in October. I put the class off two extra months. So it was six months FROM the award til the earliest class i could've gone to.

Holding IAH on the 756 is tricky. Some waited almost 2 years to get down to IAH from their date of hire while some lucked out and got down within their first year. It all depends on which system bid comes after your hire date. There were a couple where their were no vacancies there. I flew the thing out of EWR for a year and a half and am now in IAH. Love the flying but sometimes miss going to Europe. You fly mostly domestic with some Mexico and the Quito and Lima trips(have both this month). Get lucky every once in a while and get a AMS trip or a Pacific trip. Reserve goes senior for the most part so guys in the 90-97% range fly regular lines while some in the 60% range bid reserve for personal reasons. I see reserve guys get AMS and pacific trips awarded(both the 8 day pacific and the 5 day pacific) often. Rarely do you see junior guys going to Rio. Those guys are 20 year FO's doing that, and for good reasons......

The 757 flying is mostly the 757-300 and you will see Florida a lot as well as Vegas and LAX. Seattle and Portland along with Anchorage are other 757-300 cities. IAH crews do almost all of the CLE 757 flying to the West Coast and will probably do some of the Paris and London flying from CLE this Summer(told to me by an instructor).
