Just curious, how come you guys always request 1L out of SNA?

What's the deal? Is it noise-related or a performance issue?

Is that for all your 737's or just Classics?

As you know, we fly the -700's across to Hawaii nonstop out of SNA and use 19R no problem. 154.5, Flaps 10, 26K, and off we go.

It just puzzled me that Continental 737's almost always ask to go against the traffic by requesting 1L.

Noise abatement, no procedure going North. Smart actually, that cutback thing is dumb.

I've been in there atleast a dozen times over the past year and never done this. In a -500 and a -700. What time frame are they asking?

Maybe I'll try it next time. :)

Last time I did it, we were in a -500 with a butt in every seat (two in the cockpit jumpseats even!). The numbers wouldn't work for 19. I've done it in -700's going to EWR that could use 19.

I agree though, they should either hand out earplugs to the doofuses that move into houses off the end of runway 1, or turn the airport into another shopping mall. That cutback procedure is stoopid.

I flew with one guy in 8 years who wanted to use rwy 1 because he didn't like to fly the noise abatement procedure.
