It appears that CAL has still not reported 4th quarter earnings per share as they are still working on an accounting tax rule change that stems from the retirement age change. This is a one time charge related to tax allowances. This will most certainly affect the 1st quarter 08 as the charge will be split between the two quarters.

Bookings are high and loads for the 1st quarter still look good and international expansion will continue to grow into 2008 and beyond.

Should be an interesting year...............

AND

Section Six Openers, economic sections will be negotiated this year and mergers are possibly on the horizon. Be mentally and financially prepared for the battle a head and put your game face on!

Just think how well Donaldson is going to do for us in section 6. Oh yeah with merger situations too. At least we got our water.

Agreed. Fuel is also under control with the ability to raise fares and with little intl competition on most of our routes, it appears that 08 will record a substantial profit. Not quite the $556M we saw in 07 but still it does bode well for another good year.

But wait, what's that on the horizon......? It Larry K and his minions with tales of gloom, despair, and agony on us. The sky is falling, we will go bankrupt, more concessions are needed, no work rules-just FAR's, and executive bonus' all around.:smash:

I just hope with so much new blood that we call the bull******************** when we see it. Larry K is only doing his job, how much can we fault him for that. Our responsibility is to call his bluff and finally get a contract that is industry leading. Not just second place after everyone else. Does anyone have any info on where American is on their contract?

Second Place?

Try Last place. All the new hires need to rally behind this contract or we will have a long road to hoe. We can do it but we need to understand that a good pay raise is %40 or more, not 15 or 20%. Work rules, vacation, sick time, etc. We have nearly 1500 new hires on property that with those that will allie with us we can get a 50+1 vote to make this happen.

Glad to see you need the new hires behind you since you looked out for them allowing the company to make them wait for 6 month for health insurance. Not that I don't agree with you but making it difficult for a guy to even insure his family!

No doubt!

Not on property yet, but I have vowed that through the years, I will make sure that another new hire doesn't have to fear the crap pay for the first year along with the insurance. My vote won't come in unless that two problems are fixed.

1st year should be at least 60/hour and full health or talks don't move forward. Of course, the attitude will always be "I had to do it and I sure ain't gonna give up my pay to help the new hires."

That is the other vow that I am taking on this pay. This pay isn't at "I had to" level, and it doesn't do anything but get worse over the years. Nobody deserves this as a first year major airline pilot. I have to keep thinking long term on this one.

100% AGREE!!!

I for one am not leaving my fellow aviators behind. While many folks that have bought the management crap believe that there is only so much money in our slice of the pie, there is no reason why a world class airline like CAL should treat it's most skilled employees in the shameful fashion we do.

I'm not mad at Larry and Jeff, this is simply business and they've got their job to do. But after record profits, growth and three and half Billion in the bank, It's our job to make sure we leave the table with everything we deserve. Don't believe a word about their crybaby fuel complaints. Don't buy off on the lie that we have to be competitive with other legacy carriers or the sky will fall. Hell, with our productivity and pay, if we were compensated like other legacy airlines it would be a huge raise.

500 million in increased pilot labor can be covered with three bucks and change of a fare hike on each segment.
