I take it you don't have that much respect for dispatchers.

I have no respect for anyone who can't put together a cogent thought... Dispatcher or not.

That post was meant for that person (who I still think is probably pulling our leg) only. As dispatchers go, I have work with great ones and I have worked with horrible ones. Just like anywhere else.

I think that person may have been a wee bit drunk when they posted.

KGSP

4/22. 2 ILS's, 2 sets of antennas, 2 frequencies, 2 identifiers, one strip of pavement.

Calm wind.

400-1 or 200-1/2?

Hmmm...

I say add 200 and 1/2. So long as they are seperate nav facilities that should be O.K.

My late night fourth beer opinion anyhow.

Isn't it strange how different companies and POIs read the opsecs differently? At PDT and at TSA when I was there, we could choose which method to apply. Whatever, I say...

Another interesting thing is winds. A lot of dispatchers swear up and down that you don't have to take forecast (or actual as applicable) winds into account when determining the type of alternate rule to apply. I say hooey to that... The runway has to be USABLE! Again, the opspecs give you just enough rope with which to hang yourself.

The bottom line is be conservative and don't let the dispatcher push you around.

The rwy has to be "suitable" so the winds must be taken into account.

I have always been told "different concrete" so I am sticking with 400/1 on that one.

Same concrete, but you do have to take winds into account. So 200 and 1/2 is the correct for that example. It can even have 1 freq., but different ID's and you can still use the two approach method. KBTV is a good example of one piece of concrete with two ILS's on the same freq., but dif. ID's.

except for extended range operations ER-OPS 2 suitable runways maybe the different ends of the same physical runway surface (36/18)
