Dont know much about it, what should this pay per hour?.....its part time for trips when customers request 2 pilots. Offer is 12 per hour...duty time, not just flight time...sound reasonable or low ball?

Thanks

I guess I'd have to ask what your responsibilites were?As for pay I guess 12 an hour duty time isn't bad money for the job. The flight time however isn't worth anything.

I did know the time does not count for anything, the whole single pilot airplane issue. Not really responsible for much, just putting the snacks on the plane before flight, and working the radios etc....keeping the seat warm. There are a few part 91 dead legs availible, though...I just didn't know what this sort of thing paid.

Well you might not get much time but it'd probably be a great way to network and be able to put some charter experience on the resume.

Be careful working the radios unless you've had a PT135 SIC checkride. I never thought about it until one of our crews at my old 135 gig got busted. The captain got in trouble for an altitude deviation, the feds reviewed the ATC tapes and said, "who's voice is this on the tape"? Turned into a big problem for both pilots. The local FSDO (KFAT) said without a checkride, the guy in the right seat is just a passenger and pax can't touch anything. Might want to check with your FSDO.

Thanks, the place I am at has already started my ground stuff for a formal SIC ride to be added to the certificate, they have the done formal SIC thing before w/ other employees but no one could tell me what they paid......I was told I would get 4 hours in the plane training before they turned me loose for the check ride...which seemed pretty reasonable. The pay just seemed low, but honestly, I am not sure....a lot of salaries seem low (including my pay as a CFI!!) :)

I think the SIC time plus some dual given in your log book looks good when your are starting out. The time counts for total time, multi time, ect. which for the regionals is all that matters. Or if the redionals are not your thing.. It counts toward your ATP, 135 pic mins.

For a Piston twin about $125.00/day,turbo-prop,$175.00 to 200.00/day,anything less than that is severely lowballing.

During my last job I started out as a CFI and the boss wanted to get me into the 135 thing but felt I didnt have enough experience. His idea was to get me that SIC check out in the 414 first so legaly I could fly and tune the radio. As he saw I got more experience in the airplane I was then given a PIC checkride and he just gave me trips he thought I could do. Then one day I was on my own.

If nothing else its good to show you have some 135 experience. Enjoy it!

Take Care,

Good luck with the gig, but charge appropriately. $200/day minimum.

That's already lowballing, this is the 21st century. I charged more than that in the '80's ($250/day). The operator I worked for hired me as a full-timer after a couple of trips, partly because I didn't appear desperate.
