On average, how much is it to have an annual performed on your aircraft?

Also, how much is insurance? Have the premiums risen much post 9-11?

I am looking into purchasing a plane and would appreciate your input. I figure the more educated I am the better. I do realize that the figures really depend on the condition of the plane etc, so now i'm just talking general #'s for now.

Thanks in advance.

The annual should cost about six hundred dollars, and goes up from there.

Any work needed to be performed, is extra.

Insurance depends on you.

An owner-assisted annual, with a volunteer A+P, came to about 400 for Parts and the IAs services. A more realistic owner-assisted job is in the 600-700 range with a few odd parts. If you just hand em the keys, plan on 1000. Really, you can easily pull all the inspection panels, the cowl, and the interior with just about zero skills, and it's easier to change the oil on a Skylane than a Ford - You'll save lots and learn lots.

Insurance, with both a ridiculously high-time ATP and a low time Commercial/Inst pilot came to 1200ish for an Vietnam vintage 182.

Someone posted a link a while back. The site had maint/fixed cost breakdowns by aircraft and allot of other good info.

ill try to find it.

1968 C172 with penn yann 180 1300 for 1st annual that I did with the local A&P, IA. Lots of new stuff, improvements otherwise woulda been $354. Insurence with PPSEL, IR and COMM with less than 500 hours $900.
