Anyone ever heard of anyone getting in trouble by ATC or the FAA for taxing too fast? I was at SNA the other day and I swear a Cirrus was on takeoff roll down the taxiway...

Just curious if anyone has heard of anyone getting in trouble for taxing too fast.

The only time I taxi "fast" is when I'm gonna be number 1 and I've got at least a mile to go. Otherwise its not worth heating up your brake and being borderline reckless. Hurry up and wait....

At YYZ all the time.

At KSAT a maintenance inspector for the FAA was standing on our FBO ramp and a King Air taxied passed at a hi speed, and he got all worked up and ran off to have a chat with the PIC. Don’t know what happened after that.

The PIC asked the dikhead inspector to show him the results from the radar gun, and after the long poss from the inspection, then told him to go poke himself!

That's what happened!

Hi!

I have heard of tower and/or ground saying something to the offending pilot. My last job, and current one, both say no more than 20 kts, unless you are on the runway. About 8 kts or less on the ramp.

...im guilty of going over 20kts @ Vegas when taxing from Atlantic to Rwy 7L...

On the EMB if you are over 25 or 35 knots wheel speed (something like that--I forget) with the TLs at less than a certain angle (54 degrees or some such--I forget) the boards will auto deploy. *Ding* SPDBRK LEVER DISAGREE Happened all the time in the RJ and the Legacy, especially at places with long straightaways or downhills (KMCO, KLAS, KPHX, etc.). The usual stay off the brakes thing.... Otherwise I had no accurate idea how fast I was taxiing. Can anyone really tell what eight knots is? LOL

Too fast

Some airplanes have max taxi speeds for turns....A300/310 for one. Careless and reckless always applies. What is 8 kts? Look at the GPS grd. speed read out.

I never trusted that. GPS always gave a speed even when sitting still. I forget what now. I guess with a little math... ;)
