I heard that flying the Brazilians at SkyWest is better because you fly more and there is better seniority and chances to upgrade to Captain.

Is that true?

I'm more into any of the Asians........However, the Brazilians are the only ones who have all clapped and cheered afterwords.

I dont think it matters what nationality the pax are.....

It is true about more flying the first year on the emb-120....plus pay is same first year, RJ or EMB.

Advantages of going to the Brasilia vs the CRJ at SkyWest:
1. You get paid the same rate but earlier (shorter ground school/sim), more hours, with less reserve time.
2. You don't have people who have been at SkyWest a year moving in to the Brasilia to the aircraft and bumping you down the list at your domicile.
3. More likely to get a western domicile (if that's what you want).

Advantages of going to the CRJ at SkyWest:
1. Less noise in flight.
2. Fewer legs per day.
3. More likely to get ORD (if that's what you want).

Neither has an advantage as far as upgrade is concerned. Either group of newhires is free to upgrade in either aircraft without a seat lock. Upgrading in an aircraft you already know has its advantages.

I'm sorry Andy, could you repeat that? I think I'm losing a little hearing in my left ear. ;)

Andy's right. If it's about the money your first year, go with the Brasilia. Shorter reserve time plus shorter training cycle gives you more time on the line = more money. If it's about being comfortable in the plane in which you'd like to upgrade ASAP, go Brasilia. Though many people take the jet transition at a year and then upgrade after two years, on either aircraft. But at least then you will have seen both sides and can make an educated decision. IMO, the EMB is the way to go for year one. You can always transition at the 12-month point if you're tired of the noise, workload, and effort of flying a real airplane.

Take the one with the first class date.

Even just 30 numbers of seniority can mean the difference of tens of thousands of dollars in a worst case scenario...

As far as I know you do not get to choose which one you get, but I do have to say that you do make quite a bit more in the EMB in the first year then you do on the jet because of the reasons listed above. One thing that does offset the pay difference is that you end up buying a BOSE headset to cancel most of the noise and that sets you back about a grand. And then people can tell if you flew the EMB when you transistion to the jet because you have your pimpin headset. Other then that, I had a lot of fun flying the BRO.

Uh, yeah...or you could just save a few hundred dollars and use the time tested David Clarks that most of us used while we were on a limited budget flying charter, freight, or as a new hire regional pilot.

The Turbo Taco ROCKS!!!!!...the CRJ, not so much.....:pimp:

besides, chicks dig guys that fly an airplane everyone else is afraid to get into.....

7 Please tell me why everybody is afraid??

They don't call it the Brakillia for no reason  Prop overspeed is a big concern with the EMB. Other than that, the Vomit Comet rocks!!!!

Y'all forgot to mention the joys of living in So Cal on 1st year FO pay: living in a cardboard box in the park and eating out of a trash can! I don't know how the SKW Brasilia FOs do it.

The first year sucks in both aircraft. Take what you can get to get the seniority. NEVER NEVER NEVER pass up seniority for aircraft type. One year goes by very fast.

There is one very distinct advantage of moving back in with your parents......you can use the cardboard box for other things....:pimp:

Gotta love the 'Bra [or whatever we're calling it now]. My first bid in Portland, got 16 days off, 2 blocks of 5 days off in a row. You move up in relative seniority quicker on the prop. But the forward lavs stink and it's tough to get a lav service with quick turns.

It's not that they can't, it's that noone wants to haul the honey wagon over to do it.....I've had it so I never got lav service on a 45 minute turn.......fun times.... :pimp:
