They did something nice and then made sure everybody in the whole freaking universe found out about it.

Sorry, but I'm really getting tired of that schtick.

Screw Southwest!

If you buy another airline, Gary, grow a set of balls and treat them as "You would want to be treated."

Kudos to the customer service agent and supervisor in LAX who took the call and acted upon it so quickly. Rarely does the pilot know of these type situations in advance; it is the CSAs and Ops agents at the airports that get the ball rolling and are as much the reason for the kind acts to occur as the crewmembers many times.

just my $.02

What airline has SWA purchased that hasn't been treated per the golden rule? You can't be talking about Morris/Muse as Gary wasn't in charge then. You can't be talking about ATA since SWA didn't purchase them. You can't be talking about Frontier as that deal never materialized. You can't be talking about Air Tran as the deal hasn't closed, nor integration even begun, so he hasn't even had the opportunity to need to "grow a set of balls" as nothing has been done to AT.

So, what are you talking about?

Actually, it was a blogger that wrote about it and then the media picked it up. I don't believe the company ever issued any type of press release to make sure the universe found out about it.

Hmm. Makes you wonder how this "blogger" found out about it.

Before I continue, I should mention a few things: Nancy is a faithful reader of this site, and I agreed to use only her first name because of the brutal nature of the crime and the age of the victim. Second, I’m not an emotional, John Boehner-type, but I can’t read her story without getting a little teary.

Sorry to disappoint, SWA didn't seek out someone to "release" the story.
