Anyone know the deal with the Braniff clip at the end of Comedy Central shows? I can't imagine they prepaid for 20 years of this "commercial" with commedy central. Of course, it is only like 3 seconds long.
So is there someone at comedy central connected with Braniff that started this?
This may not be true but, I heard that they had finished animating a show one day back in the early days and put it to tape. Then, when they finished it and viewed the episode, right after the credits the "Braniff... Believe it!" splash played. Apparently they had put their short on a tape that already had something on it and they caught the tail end of an old Braniff commercial.
That's when they decided to keep it and the rest is history.
But probably an urban legend.
I love the warped sense of time that youngsters have. It's so cute. There was no TV before cable, and no music before iPods.
Nu
interesting link. I didn't realize that the pilots got to keep their pensions.
"The remains of the original Braniff are retained by a company named "Asworth" in Dallas. Asworth was formed out of the old "Dalfort" corporation (which was Braniff's holding company in the 1980s). Asworth is currently responsible for paying pilot pensions."
