I know there are some Bowling Green State University students and CFIs on this site, so hopefully they can help me shed some light on this. I'm currently at a Community college and after this next year I am hoping to transfer to BG. By the time I transfer I should have my CFI, CFII and maybe MEI. My plan is to major in history, but I was hoping to flight instruct while attending college. I was wondering if anybody knew of the college hiring flight instructors from outside their program? If they do not, are there any other FBOs near the college that are looking for CFIs? Thank you.

Yeah they sometimes hire from outside, but if you cant, get in next door with the wood county flying club. talk to jason

did all my training there, excellent program, great people and all new equipment, especially the glass arrow. did some flight instructing there, loved every bit of the four years there

Yeah seems like a decent program. The only problem now is that the students are having trouble getting the aircraft. It might be because they have many more students now.

never saw that problem, you may not get a plane during your slot, but fly on the weekends, i did a ton on the weekends because it was the easiest

You will see this pretty much anywhere. At Kent State we have 26 planes and and some people still have problems getting planes.

I have heard from some guys in my guard unit that went to BG, that they don't hire to much outside the program and that instructors tend to stay there forever! Is there any truth to this? Like JRparne said, fly alot at night and weekends and it should just work out fine. Goodluck!
