Statistical fact? That's pushing it [and I read a lot of journals where the so-called facts emerge; admittedly, I wish I could afford the Journal of Personalilty and Social Psychology]. The psychology sounded pretty good were it not so theoretical and pop culturish. Almost sounds like a call suggesting that homophobes are themselves gay [since you mention guys], to which a psychologist may simply reply that you are simply trying to establish Social Identity by disregarding others' legitimation efforts--yourself in denial and lacking self-esteem. Those with high self-esteem and self-confidence would be relatively unaffected by the cognitions and attitudes of other people when not directly involved. See how silly that sounds?

I once knew a guy who would always accuse others of being gay and make a lot of sexual jokes about ones member. Things like lick my B...s, suck my d..., and similar variety. Turns out he began to date a transgender for a few years. He claims he's not gay and that "she's" just a woman trapped in a mans body.
