To set the record straight. I was a Pan Am pilot who was fired along with my fellow ALPA pilots. The BMA scabs came in and wanted to be B727 Capts for $5000/mo salary, well over 50% less than I was making and help bust our union. The ones I spoke with were furloughed TWA that were current and qualified on the B727. They, in their own words, had a bone to pick with ALPA due to the American Airlines merger. To this day, it doesn't make sense why they would take it out on us. God knows we tried to enlighten them on BMA's plan. There were two others, one furloughed Delta and the other United who promptly quit BMA when they understood what was going on.
So, Capt 1500 hrs Robert, did I fly for BMA, NO! I went on unemployment until I found another job, one that was not taking the place of another fellow professional aviator. Those were tough times for my family but we survived. Work for BMA, did not do it, never would. More should think twice before taking a job unlike the 5000+ on 'the list'.
