Ops at the Fracs do this all the time. Several times I called Center to have a flight crew call company or relay a reroute because a new trip popped up close to their position. ATC has never even seemed slightly pissy about it. It's a lot cheaper than the Airphone.
Center called me once to get a hold of a crew because they couldn't establish radio contact with a crew. It turns out they had the volume turned all the way down on their COM radio. DOH!
