Well, everyone knew it would happen eventually. This certainly ends a great legacy at Long Beach for building aircraft. Hope all those folks find new opportunities.

Checked Boeing's online reports - 169 total orders, 137 delivered, 32 awaiting delivery.
 
Where's the job growth right now? It tends to be in leisure and hospitality industries.- So that's the way to replace those high paying manufacturing jobs, sell T-shirts to tourists for minimum wage. Sad to see it go.

I think you can plan on it. I'm currently flying a Douglas product which ended production in 1958. Some friends of mine are in the process of starting a business with Douglas products which ceased production in 1946
 
I flew a Douglas aircraft (C-54E) for about 50 hours this spring. Maybe if the USFS pulls its head out of its a$s this spring, I can do it some more.
