Had a buddy advised he was called for an j31 interview. Can anybody advise on the conditon at BM? Whats new? Are they hiring for the 727 yet? Any info helpfull
Thanks
i don't know if you can consider this info 'useful,' but, i know a guy who works there. haven't talked to him in months, though. he's on the jetstream. when he got hired, he was pretty pumped, it all appeared like an up-and-coming, lots of potential type of operation. i talked with him when he finished training, and he still seemed pretty excited. i talked with him again, after 3 months on the line, and his attitude changed drastically... his words, "biggest mistake of my life." he feels pretty well trapped there now, and feels real "lucky" to have a job flying...
i haven't talked with him since. this was at least 3 months ago.
his complaints were poor treatment, bad schedules, nonexistent workrules, and abominible pay.
then again, sounds like just about every other 'regional' out there!
I seem to remember there being a horrendous 5 year training contract. Also, the only reason the 727's are showing up on BMA property is because PAA management is trying to break ALPA on the 727 side of the operation. That is why the 727's are being put on BMA's certificate. I met a BMA J32 crew in Freeport, Bahamas and they seemed pretty unhappy with thier situation.
Don't get me wrong, I have a job and for that I am blessed, but we are pushed to the limit on a daily basis around here, moral in every dept is horrible and also the whole company is grossly understaffed. The Mental and Physical fatique of the mechanics and pilots makes for an unsafe atmosphere and 99% of us are looking as hard as we can to get out. I would advise you to stay away! One furloughed USAIR guy in May ground school already walked when he saw our june schedule, 6 DAYS OFF for the whole month with no overtime or extra pay. No union, no protection from anything and we are basically slaves to this place. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
called by BMA the other day. the message sounded like the guy was "roundin up the heard" and wasnt enthusiastic. "we'd like to git you in here for an interview this week or next week" he said. i'm sorry but 2 weeks to prepare is considerate. if they want an interview there right away chances are they will hire you on the spot.
heres what i learned....
current climate: it takes someone you know to walk your resume in somewhere and then youll get a call in a few weeks. if you dont know anyone. youre not gonna get hired or even interviewed. the sheer volume of resumes being sent in precludes them from seriously looking at all of them. period. if you do get interviewed without a walk in chances are that you sent in your resume 6 months ago or so.
i know noone at BMA, was not walked in. i sent in my resume 3 weeks ago and got a call the other day. they wanted to interview me ASAP. this is 180 of what the industry is. does this point to something? yes i believe so. obviously noones sending their resume to this place. people know things and the heard picks up on it and moves with the traffic. if noones sending a resume to the company, what does this tell you about them....noone wants to work for a company where everyones pissed off. the regulations list the maximum hours you can work but honestly does that mean the human body can do that forever? no....
my engine in my truck can do 6000 rpm. that dosent mean it can do 6000 for 100k miles? heck no ill spin a bearing before then. how long can your body live at redline? the official messenger of the army fighting at marathon greece ran 78 miles one day to deliver messages. he clollapsed and died.
WE have working the line this month 8 Captains and 9 F/Os 3 of the F/Os are upgraded CA's but because we are so short of people they are back working as F/Os for who knows how long, a constant stream of people leaving with and without jobs. BURNOUT CENTRAL with no end in sight. They'll never be able to keep up with people leaving and the moran that is the President of the Comapny and the VP of Airline ops think you should work 24/7 if they had their way, they want to keep expanding with or without (preferably) more crews. It WILL NEVER get better here. Its your choice. Oh, also enjoy the 5 year training contract they will make you sign. A nightmare in NH!
BMA is the worst place you could pssibly imagine. I was lucky enough to get a better job after working there for a couple of years. Management consists of crazy idiotic guys who would remind you of Mr. Spacely from the Jettsons.
I will be glad to tell you more. Send me a private message if you need to know more about the most disgruntling airline ever created.
PSM is where we are forced to be based, in Portsmouth NH a very expensive place to be. I second what marchow said and then some, STAY AWAY. They do have a sad excuse for a website- www.bmairways.com.
I can't ell you enough times this place is a disaster and they continue to abuse all who are here, 6 days off in June and probably less in july. no way to live or to run any kind of operation. moral is at an all time low.
I' ve been called for an interview with BMA for a position as a Capt. on the CASA based on P.R. Do you know anything about their operation in Puerto Rico. What is the deal with overtime?? They pay or not??
A friend of mine just joined the management team at BMA.
He said that the 6 on 1 off is no longer.
I guess the last bid was like 13 days off and they still had a lot more guy's in training.
Apparently New England loads are slowing down, so they are moving some airplanes and crews to the Carribean. The Casa's will relocate as well, thus the need for Casa pilots.
NO they do not pay over time, you are strictly salary. Usually the duty time is over 40 hrs per week ( how they pay) and no overtime so you are working for free. The schedules are getting better but it probablly won't last long because VP of airline sees we have too many days off and some will be probably be furloughed so BE CAREFUL here, AGAIN, things will NEVER change here at BMA with the current owner and upper management running things!
