Man .....it sucks here.

Just shot the 4R into MDW, we had a Vapp of 140 kts and a 86 kt gs.
Haven't flown in crap this bad in a while, mod turb all the way down to the rwy.

Have fun if you're coming in here.

Guess it's not a true "Blizzard"......but pretty DANG close!

"The U.S. Weather Service defines a blizzard as a storm with winds of more than 35 miles an hour and snow that limits visibility to 500 feet or less. "

Check Springfield, Illinois TAF:

Nice......."ThunderstormSnow" and "CB's at 300 feet!!"

Up in DET right now. Trying to get back to CMI (just east of SPI) and things aren't looking good. Just delayed the flight and this may become an impromptu overnight...we'll see.

Technically it's not a true blizzard unless it shuts down the Kennedy Expressway. Today is just a dusting.

I see a brilliant career ahead of you in broadcast journalism.

Flew from N.Y. to PWK (Chicago) early this afternoon. Shot the ILS 16 cir. 34.
Pretty crumby.;)
BTW, I'm here till Sunday. Any ideas what to do, Chicago fans?
W/car, staying by PWK.

I never saw rvr get below 3500. I wouldnt call it a blizzard.

Lowest reported RVR so far was 2400 on 9R. Though there is a stonger band of snow approaching. It won't be officially a blizzard, but this is not normal for Chicago! At least not this time of year. I don't remember the last time I've seen a snow like this before thanksgiving, and I've lived here for the 99% of my life.

For crying out loud guys!! Loosen up, or lighten up!!

I found BizPilot's thread to be interesting, cut him some slack, he even admitted that it isn't a true "BLIZZARD".

Why do you guys get your underwear in a bundle over someone trying to start conversation???? Christ! I know there are a lot of Pompas Pilots, but Christ Almighty!

Jack Schitt, take your "Technicality" and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Dang Jetbluedog you need to relax. I for one was just having a little fun. Go get that chick in your avatar to help you relax.

happy thanksgiving all!

Dog, I'm not trying to be pompas. I'm in Chicago right now and believe me, a couple inches of snow doesn't constitute a blizzard. Maybe you thought I was implying that I flew in it and it was no big deal. Not the case.

bad weather in Michigan

About 5:00 pm today Northwest Dc-9 carrying 87 passengers slides of runway at lansing capital city airport

It was truly quite a mess today. I should have payed attention to the weather reports more. I decided to commute to work on the busiest travel day of the year in the middle of a slushy snow storm. Luckily I got on the first flight out of three I planned for.

I was sitting eating some lunch earlier today and saw sparks keep flying in our alley. The winds and rain/snow were combining to cause shorts and massive showers of sparks. Amazing.

Anyone also see the CTA bus that exploded downtown? Maybe it's the apocaplyse! :D

Ha, ha! I have often wondered how many "No"s you would get in this forum if you posted this single-word post; "Yes"!

Long way from a blizzard, that is just a normal IFR winter operation day. Blizzard would be ORD 0X0 330/50G60kts S+++++RVR600var1000-5/-5 3/9/24 Airport Closed BANIL ALL RUNWAYS

Which forum do you think would be most appropriate?

I used to live in the Chicago area now I am in shorts and Tshirt.
Oh yea Hurricanes do suck.

blizzard: winter storm characterized by high winds, low temperatures, and driving (blowing) snow; according to the official definition given in 1958 by the U.S. Weather Bureau, the winds must exceed 35 mi (56 km) per hr and the temperature 20°F (-7°C) or lower.

Blizzard or no, it screwed up the operation there. Arrived at 10:00 PM local or so, waited 3 hours for a gate. The terminal at 2:00AM was like WW2 Warsaw, people racked out by the hundreds if not thousands in various parts of the terminal.

I tried to get released to deadhead home (there was still a flight at 2:00 AM), and was told this little gem from our tracker... "Since you worked more than 16 hours today, you are REQUIRED to accept EXTRA, COMPENSATORY rest. You are not legal to travel home until 1400 tomorrow." Stuck at the Holiday inn over much of thanksgiving, the one with the Harry Caray super-pricey restaurant. Another glamorous day and night with the airlines down the toilet.

SWEDE.......

Curious why they would not release you. Sure if they deadhead you you are still on the clock. But if you are released and fly on your dime, the company is off the hook and you could nonrev home
