115 Capt slots (including 15 777, 20 ATL765, etc)

534 FO slots (including 195 MD88 for new hires, and 61 737-800s for new hires) Lots of 767ER INTL FO slots available (78 in ATL and 79 in JFK).

Also 40 displacements out of LAX on the 767-400 (20 Capt 20 FO---moving them to ATL), but there are additions in LAX on the 757/767 (13 Capt and 8 FO)

A fairly big bid. More to come with additional aircraft.

LAX is losing the 765 flying. This is only about a third of the displacements. The rest will come on the next bid. LAX will be gaining an ER category though, which should just about balance out the loss of 765 flying.

Altogether this bid has over 600 vacancies.....and it really does not account for that many of the airplanes that are coming.

What are the effective dates? Thx

the bid closes in ten days. The conversion dates are from Sept 07 to March 08. (conversion date is the date you actually are shown, and paid, in your new category. Could be before training...during training, or after training. Usually you convert to the new category during training.)

When are these aircraft comming? I keep hearing about lots of things in the works from the General but haven't read a press release. Maybe I'm not looking closely enough?

The former 757 TWA birds have already started to arrive.
We will be using them already for international starting next month (JFK-SNN)

The first 737-700 also arrives next month.
Our next 777's both arrive beginning of next year.
We are also trying to secure 2 more 777's from an Indian airline.
Rumors of course of the 30 MD 90's coming from China in exchange for.......50 seat rj's.........

The bid package listed new flying for both the 75A (the new 757ER's) and it also says "the first 73H will begin service Sept. 21 from JFK-SFO"

My guess is that this is either a -800 with the new entertainment system or they are putting the seats back to 155 in some airplanes as well so it could be that... but travelnet makes a distinction between the 757's without and the 75X with the entertainment (old songbirds) and considering Virgin is starting service with their fancy new entertainment between JFK-SFO....well, that's my best guess.

There have been some talks over the internet for 2 additional new B777 orders on top of the 6 but there is no longer a securing of 2 B777s from an Indian Airline for immediate use. That rumor has come and gone. Air India took deliveries of these LR models and put them in service against Delta's JFK-BOM service beginning this month.

I am pretty sure that is right as well. 737-700s arrive a year from now.

So that would be an 8 year upgrade but at that point you are technically only two years away from the guys hired Feb of this year.

We had 5 years of negative growth thanks to 9-11 and then a BK. We used to have 1 year Captains on the Delta Express 737-200s. In the mean time we have lost 2300 Captains, parked a lot of planes, and changed our management. Things are improving again, and hopefully our new management will lead us in the right direction. More planes are coming, and that means more opportunities.

You are correct, which is exactly why I stated a 99 hire vs saying an 8 year upgrade. Saying a mid 99 hire is only a reference for where they sit on the list. Doesn't mean I think an 01 hire is two years away from upgrade.
