Do I read that memo from BL as saying that our position in SLC could remain unchanged for a while? "What's a while you may ask," I dunno, but he said that these "new" 5 700's for Skywest were "growth" airplanes meaning that we "may" not change in SLC for the time being. Also it's just theory on my part that this "growth" for SW could be coming from DL mainline dropping a bunch of 733 flying outta SLC. So we as ASA might not loose much outta of the deal except for our "own" growth. Don't get me wrong I wish we were getting the planes!!! If I read another memo about cost competitiveness I'm gonna hurl!!!! Used car salesman! Yeah we don't fly our 700's for 50 rates like others have said, so yeah no big surprise!

NEW! SkyWest, Inc. to allocate five CRJ700s to SkyWest Airlines
Feb. 1, 2006 5:45 p.m. EST
This spring SkyWest Airlines will receive five new CRJ700s, which will be operated out of the SLC hub. The allocation decision was made by SkyWest, Inc. and while disappointing for ASA which had hoped to receive the aircraft, was based on the fact that SkyWest Airlines' CRJ700 operating costs are lower. There is no word yet on how this will affect ASA's operation in SLC, but as soon as any information is available it will be communicated through the usual channels.

Sounds like typical Management crap to make you think the world will end if you don't concede.

The following memo from Dave Soaper, Vice President - Air Operations was sent to the Flight Operations Team:
Flight Operations is mailing recall letters today to 54 Comair pilots. This is to help the airline account for planned pilot attrition and prepare for an anticipated increase in aircraft utilization in the March-through-June timeframe, as well as the possible stabilization of our fleet. Although Comair still has some important work to complete in its restructuring efforts, the recent ratification of new pilot and mechanic agreements sent a clear signal that we are making significant progress to achieve competitive costs in line with today's environment. Please keep in mind the airline's survival and success still depend on completing all the necessary elements of our restructuring, and we continue to work toward this goal.

As you will recall we have been expecting the removal of 30 jets from our fleet as Delta and Comair seek to lower their aircraft ownership costs through the Chapter 11 process. The new pilot and mechanic agreements - combined with cost control initiatives already implemented in other areas of the company - give Comair a chance to minimize fleet losses and prepare for potential opportunities in the future. This requires us to increase pilot staffing accordingly to ensure we have sufficient coverage.
There is no question that starting a pilot recall so soon after implementing a reduction in force only adds to the unsettling nature of restructuring. We are grateful, however, that Delta is restoring some flight hours at Comair as so many employees make difficult sacrifices to help secure our future. At this point, the recall only pertains to pilots because of the unique circumstances involving training, attrition and cockpit staffing that affect our team and operational reliability.
Thank you to everyone for your continued professionalism and your efforts in running a great operation

>>Do you guys not remember 2003 ? When the company wanted us to take concessions so that we could get those 25 RFP airplanes <<

Well, the RFP was for 32 airplanes, and while we got 25 of them Skip told us we "would have got all of them if we would have agreed to the freeze"!

Yeah,. right.....

These are additional aircaft for Skywest. They are not part of the 22 aircraft that were on order at the time of the buyout. It sounds like management is trying to play you and some of you are falling for it.

Those 5 aircraft have been shown on the delivery sheet at Skywest airlines since last november.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling!

Pilots fly the planes, management decides where they go.
Don't get rattled, it's a scare tactic.

Hoser

Yeah same scare tactic they used at Comair, ACA, Coex, Airwis, etc... Why would anybody be deterred. Hold the line. 1.2% raise and $.25 an hour per diem...
Hoser... I know what your thinking... He must be management. No god fearing ALPA member would ever question that crack squad.

If these aircraft were indeed destined for ASA, which I don't believe they were, we need to file a common carrier petition. That would end at least some of the problems.

OK this to all the "it doesn't matter, the planes will come here anyway" crowd. How is what is happening here any different than what happened to Comair, Piedmont, Alleghany, CCAir, ACA, Air Wisconcin, or Mesaba. It is also happening to ConExp now as they have been told they will lose 69 aircraft because of their costs. I can understand if you think enough is enough, but to ignore this reality seems kind of crazy.

Brian,

If you succeed in scaring pilots into a concession are you going to take your bonus and spend it on a car that is a little more manly? I guess you could drive the VW Bug, but your car is still pretty homo.

God fearing ALPA member. That's rich Scott, Brian, CP, whoever you are. Hope you can meet SLC's expectation to get this contract done on time! And you can. Just cave in to the ASA pilots. It really quite simple see? This is how it happened last time too.

VOICE, you need to change your info. It's not that different than Crashpads. Or, are you two the same management person (same person, different screen names) trying to influence and scare ASA pilots? Why not be a man (like Hoser) and give us your real name?? Ah, didn't think so.

Your right, we're the same person. Save yourself some time - it's only one person that is questioning ALPA.
