In the crew lounge at SLC last night, one of our CP's was talking there would be a "big announcement" today in ATL @ 8 AM. Also that CT was coming to SLC on a special trip today to say the same thing. Supposedly it was to be posted on MyASA as well. Haven't seen or heard boo yet.

Just passing along what I heard.

Thought that might have been what it was - any source RC?

Looks like it "may" be at least 5 planes leaving SLC...

Source is my unrivalled talent, on loan from God. But nothing official. What else could it be? We need those planes and crews in locations that makes sense, like Dulles and Houston.

From a CP forum yesterday, It was mentioned that management would like to to open another crew base...CVG and MCO were on the wish list.

Well, in Nov Scott Hall told our class CVG was seriously being considered as a new base, only they were concerned over the timing with the Comair trouble. Also mentioned Tampa, until Delta pulled out all that flying. In crew room the other day, Hall and Tutt were there, and I heard IAD mentioned, possibly United flying to replace ACA? Just speculation, no flame.

MCO??? Let's see, we've got Comair, CHQ, and Freedom all in the mix now, with DL reducing the # of gates at the station AND with Freedom currently with 12 with up to 30 a/c there. Supposedly, CHQ is on the way out...over to FLL, and Comair's continued presence is rumored to be in limbo. Hmmm.

The "big" announcement will probably be something like:

"We are refocusing our efforts to get this contract resolved in this increasingly challenging environment"

or

"'Just wanted to let you know that ____________ airlines pilots agreed to pay concessions. THEY realize that to remain competitive in this challenging industry it had to be done. We will continue to negotiate in good faith, to get this contract resolved with realistic pay structure that will allow us to compete and attract more business and blah, blah, blah"

There is some pressing need for them to wrap up the contract by March, to secure something or other. Of course, that will NEVER happen,(13 TA'd sections after 3 1/2 years) so after that, they will spank us by saying, 'oh well, you lost out', and then it will go to someone else. There are more planes or a new base coming, but I dont think to ASA. But hey, we'll get a few more dollars per hour and 1.75 per diem by holding out for industry leading contract. And then SkyWest moves us out of SLC and keeps all our 70's, retires all the ATR's, parks a bunch of useless 50's and we can shrink up just like Comair. Ahhhhh.

Or...

We settle for a new Industry Low contract with the promise of all this new flying, new planes, fast upgrades. And then it all disappears anyway....

"just like Comair....."

Excuse me, just speculating on using their old infastructure/gates to do United flying that used to be done there. Maybe all that ACA flying hasnt been replaced, or maybe they want to do more, or replace some existing flying??? I was purely speculating.

Probably aircraft being pulled out SLC and future 700/705 deliveries being diverted to SKYW.

We will get the airplanes anyway

Do you guys not remember 2003 ? When the company wanted us to take concessions so that we could get those 25 RFP airplanes ? We told them to go pound sand and they gave us the airplanes. I don't think that we need to burn the house down or sell the farm to get airplanes but I do think that we need to continue to work towards a fair collective bargaining agreement. As our MEC has said time and time again, our job is to fly airplanes and not to get involved with the buying and selling of Airplanes, Fly the POH, FOM, and the contract to the letter. Be professional in all that you do and realize that we are going to get the airplanes that they want ASA to have regardless of whether we make 100K or 25 K. Fly safe .

Just home from a 2 day, talked to CP FL just before I left the airport....Willy is officially gone (at least not in charge of planning anymore) and RM is being sent back to the line. I had almost stopped believing in miracles.

And whos Willy? Is he the guy that gives you those schedules you candler guys all love?

Yup, that is correct. Before that, he had the small insignificant task of being the Screw Scheduler Manager. Is he getting yet another promotion!?!?!?

SKYW to opperate 5 CR7's in SLC beginning in March...

Martin was the contract administrator. Basically the guy at the company who looked for ways to violate what we have now.

Just read the memo....Basically they got the A/c because their "operating costs" are lower than ASA's....translation: SKY flies them for 50 seat rates, so of course they are going to get them. How do we compete with that??? By me taking the 8 or 9% paycut they proposed a couple of weeks ago!?!?! I think not.
