Big-A furloughs

If anyone who flies heavy equipment listens to what an RJ pilot has to say, then you deserve to be furloughed. For the other 16 out of 80 stay cool, chin up.

I think most 36th street pilots could be furloughed for 6-8 months out of the year and still bank twice what the average RJ pilot makes.

Being unemployed however usually sucks and Arrow crews have lots of longevity with the company. I just talked to one getting furloughed that has 8 years with the company.

Believe it or not some of us little RJ pilots may have actually flown a heavy in the past. Some may even be familiar with 36th st. scumbags (Willy the head) and could give insight to curious minds.

Like McNugget said, sometimes you have to do whats best for your family. I left Arrow six yrs. ago and had lots of fun with some good guys. You can make more money as a Big A capt. versus an RJ capt. but theres something to be said for QOL and stability. Again, like McNugget said maybe the Big A or whoever you work for is not your only source of income.

I heard the other day that Arrow is entering a purchase agreement to buy out Focus Air. From the facts that I heard, they will be acquiring all the aircraft and flight crews that are already on Focus property, as well as any future growth they may have. The Focus guys will be getting a raise to Arrow rates, but they will be put at the bottom of the seniority list which will make them subject to the endless Arrow furloughs. Finally, a decesion on 36th street that seems to make a lot of sense. Good luck Arrow guys. Hang in there, you will be senior 747 drivers really soon.

Then I hope the voice in your head that said that didn't tell you to kill anyone. The more I read this forum the more I am seeing purely useless information. Thanks for the laugh though.
 
It can go both ways. RJ capt, in some instances might make more than a JW capt. tough to do but doable. If your bottom capt at JW not breaking your 60hrs.....I'm making more. BUT an rj driver has no idea what the life is flying for such an outfit, and well, in some ways I miss it........ Particularly the experience of the crews, as opposed to the inexperience....

Yeah, especially since "bottom" captain at Arrow means spending two months a year without your captain pay.

they still furloughing by seat, or are they actually furloughing by seniority these days??? You guys ever get a new contract? What was given up or ??? I saw somewhere the pay raises you guys got when "the head" group bought the place out. I was down there with the airplanes in Thailand, and got furloughed when we lost that contract. Thought of going back, but naaaa...skipped it for now...
 
Sure we got the pay raise, now they are asking to lower the guarantee to 50 hours. Of course, it's not much of a raise if you are furloughed.

Actually, the union has been able to enforce the contract in the sense that some DC-10 crewmembers (especially FE) have been able to "flow-back" into the DC-8 if their seniority allows it. CA's can also be displaced to FO. The displaced DC-8 crewmembers go to the unemployment line. I bet they are/will be spending more on training costs than they will on furloughs. If, that is, they actually let those guys go back to the DC-10 after the recall.

P.S.- I don't advocate or support any hatred towards the Focus pilot group. You go to work, fly your aircraft, and go home. Nobody can fault you for that. This is all about company B.S.

Heh heh, never had to go back to any place before...and a lot of us are looking elsewhere. I guess, each to his/her own, ya know? I don't understand it either. But jobs making the $$ are few and far between, not like you can just afford to jump ship for CHQ first year pay.
