Just got back from Louisville (SDF) for Thunder Over Louisville and everyone that had anything to do with planes were treated like rock stars. This might be one airshow you guys should try to get. Even as a Crew Chief we were put up in a great hotel (Executive West), supplied rental cars, pretty good per diem (plus meal chits), police escort after the airshow to the waterfront for the largest fireworks display in the US, and a pre and post show party at 4th Street Live.

The pre party the day before at 4th Street was a zipper sausage fest though, but I had a great time in my civvies outside the bar we had for the party. Was kind of funny seeing SRA loadmasters from the KYANG hanging out in their zipper suits trying to pick up women. :laugh:

I'm definately going to try to get this gig again next year.

You're the 4th person that's told me this in the last few years. Sounds like a great weekend.
Discovery Channel did an episode on the fireworks display there. Talk about BIG!

Make me the fifth.

I took the mighty Rhino there in 2001 (or thereabouts) for the static and flyover.

The shuttle was up, and filmed the fireworks from orbit. It's that awesome.

Nice hosting by the SDF ANG (AFRES?) guys; static in the morning, flyover in the afternoon, down to the hotel right on the river for the fireworks. Too bad I had to leave early the next morning to static at Maxwell's airshow.

Find some excuse to take a -38. You won't be disappointed.
