I've been unemployed for a long time now and am researching WIA funds to maybe get some training in something that might pay off. There will be 5-8,000 available but the 8,000 is supposed to be very limited to high demand jobs like nursing etc. As I don't think I could get a medical without lying about a medicine I'm currently taking (which I won't do) I hesitate to try and use it for flying....although getting the CFII would be nice. I realize I don't have to have a medical to be a CFI but I do to get paid for it. Anyhow....I'm 43 which probably makes changing careers worse than being 23. I've been in IT for a long time but that area sucks for jobs right now as well. I'm guessing there is very little that you can get training on for 5 grand that might turn into something down the road....but as I go to WIA orientation next week I'd like to get some opinions because of course there is a lot that I "don't know".
