Thinking of flying a small non-turbo Cessna from SLC to GTF. Anyone have a preferred route to stay below 10,000 as much as possible?

Get the chart's, current weather for the day, performance planning and plot it... or Use jep's internet flight planner plot it get weather do performance planning print trip kit.

Follow I-15 to Dillon, then airways to HIA-HLN-GTF. Mountainous, but none of that route is particularly high.

Generally speaking, highways follow the most suitable passes and the lower terrain; using a roadmap in conjunction with a sectional/WAC is a useful way to chart a course through mountainous terrain.
